It has been four years since I first stepped foot onto EWHS grounds, and in that time the issue of garbage has never been worse than it is right at this moment. Litter is ubiquitous, inescapable in the parking lot and everywhere in the flex areas and class rooms. I mean, at one point, someone brought an entire metal crock pot and smashed it in the parking lot. To this day there are shards of metal everywhere! That is just one example, of course, but there are many more instances of littering.

❀ Hello all! ❀
First I’d just like to thank you very much for visiting Driftwood and taking an interest in our columns! It really means so much to us editors who have spent a lot of time and energy investing into this lil’ project~ Now onto this columns real topic - art! I’m always immersing myself in different artistic forms, whether it be creative YouTube videos or inspiring Instagram accounts, which makes me incredibly excited to be writing this form of column. Recently I discovered an illustrator and animator named Steve Cutts, and his work is really unique and cool, especially his animations (check it out here!!! http://www.stevecutts.com/). All of his work is commenting on the values and problems of modern day society, whether it be class differences, environmental/wildlife destruction, reliance on technology - really important stuff that needs to be addressed. But what he does with those topics is also really cool - his stuff ranges from cartoonish/bright artwork to a darker, gritty graphic novel style; this fluidity in his work really makes him unique, especially when it comes to his animations. I love the animations - they’re often combined with bumpin’ tunes as well that really pairs perfectly with the subject matter and animation style (this one in particular: https://youtu.be/Z7OWIQUwp5M). Anyways, his work really makes an important commentary that’s done in a really interesting style - I really recommend checking his work out! ((My favorite of his animations are: https://youtu.be/td2wFcD424Y ; https://youtu.be/WfGMYdalClU ; https://youtu.be/A-rEb0KuopI)) Thank you for reading~ ♡ Savannah |
